How to Get to Stockholm From Bromma vs Arlanda Airport

Stockholm is served by two main airports — Arlanda (ARN) and Bromma (BMA) — and they are very different in size, location and how you get into the city. This guide explains the difference and the best transfer option from each.

The key difference

Arlanda is Stockholm's large international hub, about 40 kilometres north of the city. Bromma is a small airport much closer in, roughly 8 kilometres west of the centre, handling mostly domestic and short-haul flights. Your arrival airport changes how you should plan your journey into town.

Getting in from Arlanda

Arlanda offers the most options. The Arlanda Express train reaches Stockholm Central in around 20 minutes, airport buses take roughly 45 minutes, and taxis or private chauffeurs take you door to door. Because Arlanda is further out, a comfortable transfer makes a real difference after a long flight.

Getting in from Bromma

Bromma's advantage is proximity. You can reach the city centre in as little as 15–20 minutes by car. Public transport exists but is less direct than at Arlanda, so a taxi or private transfer is often the simplest choice from Bromma.
